As engineers we love to work on various types of bicycles and experiment with a broad range of materials. For the Dutch recumbents brand Challenge Recumbents we worked with carbon fiber in our design of a lightweight recumbent bike.
We simplified the manufacturing process by introducing a two-step production method, which makes it easier to produce both the bike and the molds. We fabricated the frame and the rear fork separately, which makes the production process far less complex and labor intensive. This efficient practice makes it affordable to manufacture the bicycles in the Netherlands, close to the Challenge headquarters.
The first prototype of this recumbent bike was introduced at the ‘Fiets en Wandelbeurs’ 2020 in Utrecht
